2006 class gifts to promote leadership

In the 2004–2005 school year, all four MBA programs participated in Goizueta’s class gift program for the first time, raising nearly $332,000. It was such a success that the bachelor’s program has been added for the 2005–2006 year.

This year’s classes are interested in leadership. The Weekend Executive MBA class, the Modular Executive MBA class, and the Evening MBA class will contribute to the Leadership Initiative (LI), a Goizueta effort that encourages personal and professional growth in selected leadership “fellows.” The LI trains leaders for society, as well as for business, using a model similar to that of servant leadership.

“The ’06WEMBA class has chosen the LI as our class gift because we feel the initiative will further enhance the Executive MBA Program focus on global, entrepreneurial leadership,” says Allison Dukes ’06WEMBA. “The WEMBA Program in particular will benefit from an initiative that refines existing managers and further develops them into executive leaders.”

“Reputation is harder to maintain than to make,” adds Scott Hawley ’06EvMBA. “So we recognize the importance of supporting Goizueta’s strength in corporate leadership, especially expanding the program to include future evening students.”

The Full-time MBA Program is offering a different take on leadership, opting to fund a national leadership conference that will be open to students and the general public, says Amber York ’06MBA. “Hosting a leadership conference provides Goizueta with the opportunity to share the Goizueta leadership experience with students, alumni, and the business community, as well as to provide a venue to learn from great leaders.”

The BBA class has chosen to fund Career Treks. Each class aims to have a 100 percent participation rate and to exceed the dollar amount raised by their respective programs in 2005.
