Bonding on the slopes
As is their custom, in late January, three buses filled with BBA students and staff left campus and lumbered toward the Blue Ridge Mountains for the popular annual ski trip. According to Libby Egnor, associate director of the BBA Program, many undergraduate students herald the three-day ski trip as a highlight of their BBA school career. Within days of the announcement of this year’s trip (which includes mandatory ski lessons and satisfies a PE requirement), all 165 slots were filled.
Why are the trips so popular? Nick Friend ’06BBA puts it this way: “The ski trip ended up being more fun than I expected. It was great to be able to earn a gym credit while hanging out with a large group of your friends and colleagues. It also gave me a chance to get to know other students in the BBA program.”
“This is a galvanizing event for the program,” notes Egnor. “The students not only acquire a physical skill but also have the opportunity to interact in a non-traditional forum that really allows them to develop as a cohesive unit.” (Currently, BBA students split time between Goizueta and other schools on campus. This event allows them to come together for a length of time and bond.)
Along with Egnor, ski trip chaperones included Andrea Hershatter, associate dean and director of the BBA Program, Melissa Trifiletti, associate director of the BBA Program, and Ricardo Morales, associate director for International Programs.
