Meet the Professor

What if you had the chance to meet your professor before you signed up for a class? That was just one of the benefits for BBA students who signed up for “Meet the Professor,” an event sponsored by the BBA Council. Eight students per luncheon were selected to meet one-on-one with faculty members, including Allison Burdette and Reshma Shah, in a non-academic environment. “We consider it important for students to reach out to professors outside the class room and this is a good way to start this initiative,” explains BBA Secretary Tatiana Barbato ’06BBA. The brainchild of BBA Council President Jacqueline Abu-Haidar ’06BBA, the luncheons allowed students to get to know the personal side of the professors, “which allows students to relate to them better,” says Barbato, who notes the luncheons were exceedingly popular.

Gary Hecht, shown above with students at Everybody’s restaurant in Emory Village, says “my impression of the event was extremely favorable. I had a great time at lunch!” Hecht, assistant professor of accounting, noted there was also a nice mix of students who he knew from classes last spring and students he’d not yet met.
