Dear alumni and friends,

Academic life has a certain rhythm. It’s May and we are graduating some brilliant students who will be major contributors to global enterprise. Simultaneously, we have been admitting another great class of students for our BBA and MBA programs.

You’ll also be pleased to know that the new PhD Program is launched. We selected a handful of students from 150 applicants for the program. The new Modular Executive MBA, an alternate format of our top ten Executive MBA Program, is receiving applications for its September launch. And, the Evening MBA Program held a series of events to help foster a sense of belonging to the Goizueta community among evening students.

We have mixed emotions as we see the class of 2002 graduate. They were full of ideas, energy and enthusiasm. The past few months have seen us host student leaders from top schools worldwide for the Graduate Leadership Conference and the Undergraduate Business School Leadership Conference. We conducted another outstanding Marketing Strategy Competition with twelve corporations and public service agencies. Our BBAs launched a student newspaper, The Goizueta Perspective. And, our MBAs won case competitions in real estate, marketing research, and finance.

But time marches on, and we gladly welcome these new graduates to our 10,000 alumni who represent the school with distinction.

I want you to know that we have achieved much of what we set out to do in our 1998 strategic plan. We have enhanced curricula, added new programs, recruited stellar faculty, and raised funds for scholarships and chairs. Nevertheless, our top twenty-five competitors also are moving ahead. Thus, this summer we will begin developing the school’s strategic plan for the next five years. As shareholders in Goizueta Business School, your ideas and recommendations are very important and most welcome.

I am thankful for your support, and I am looking forward to the school pursuing even greater ambitions.

Sincerely,

Thomas S. Robertson
