Goizueta named 'university of the year'

The Atlanta Chapter of the National Society of Hispanic MBAs (NSHMBA) has selected Goizueta Business School as the “University of the Year” in recognition of Goizueta’s commitment to the Latin American and international communities. The school was chosen because of its involvement with and support of NSHMBA at the local and national levels, its efforts to attract more Hispanics to the MBA program, and its prestige and reputation in the community.

“Emory has shown extraordinary commitment to diversity,” notes Alejandro A. Figueiras, NSHMBA Atlanta program officer and 2003 Awards Committee chair. “The support that NSHMBA has received [in 2003] from both the administration and the student body has been unmatched at both the national and local level. In addition, the turnout of your students at the national conference coupled with your hosting of a table and your team’s participation in the case study competition was a highlight for Georgia MBA schools,” says Figueiras. “Finally, your victory in the case competition last year was another honor for all of us.”

This marks the second time the school has received this award; Goizueta received the organization’s inaugural University of the Year award in 2001. The Atlanta Chapter of NSHMBA works with students and universities to increase the enrollment of Hispanics in graduate management programs; assists corporations and other business organizations in the recruitment, development, and promotion of Hispanic business professionals; and organizes and participates in networking and community events to provide Hispanic professionals with opportunities for career growth, leadership development, and entrepreneurship.
