MBA Career Management Center aims high

It’s an ambitious goal, but Goizueta’s MBA Career Management Center (CMC) has committed to finding employment for 100 percent of the 2004 MBA class.

“Why shouldn’t this be our goal?” says David Bergheim, director of the MBA CMC. “Trying for anything else doesn’t make sense. If we don’t set an ambitious goal, we will never reach it.” The MBA CMC has an impressive track record of placing students. In 2003, 85 percent of the students in the class had job offers within three months of graduation.

The Center’s second goal calls for 100 percent internships this summer for the MBA class of 2005. This is familiar territory, as it has happened already: In the summer of 2003, 100 percent of the MBA class of 2004 was placed in internships. Goizueta was one of only three U.S. business schools to claim this distinction, which Bergheim contributes to the quality of Goizueta students.

In order to make these two goals become reality, the CMC staff are doubling their efforts, working closely with MBA students to determine their interests. “We’ve taken a hard look at what we need to get right,” says Bergheim, “both from our end and from the student perspective.”

If you are a member of the Goizueta alumni, expect to hear from Bergheim or one of his staff soon as part of their campaign. If you hear of job openings at your company or simply want to get involved, contact Bergheim at david_bergheim@bus.emory.edu, or 404.727.7655.—Sarah Banick
